New Twelve South chargers with “Find My” support

If you ever misplace these chargers, you can simply open the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac and track their location. The chargers don't need to be plugged into a power outlet to do this, as they are powered by a removable coin cell battery, similar to Apple's AirTag. Twelve South says the battery should last about a year and the charge level can be monitored in the Find My app.

Quickread: At a glance

  • Twelve South introduces USB-C chargers with “Find My” support for the first time.
  • The chargers use a replaceable button cell battery.
  • Two models available: 50W and 120W, pre-order now.

The chargers are now available for pre-order in two-port 50W and four-port 120W variants. Prices in the US are $69.99 and $119.99, respectively. Delivery to customers is scheduled to begin in mid-September.

Both chargers use a material called gallium nitride (GaN), which allows for a slimmer design so they can fit behind couches and in other tight spaces. The 50W version is great for charging smaller and medium-sized devices like the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, while the 120W charger is ideal for a MacBook and other larger devices.

Gallium Nitride (GaN) explained!

Gallium nitride (GaN) is a material used in chargers to enable more efficient energy conversion. It enables compact designs and higher charging power. This allows chargers to be smaller and more powerful than conventional silicon models.
