Prices, opening hours, what is there to discover

() The Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier, the Stadtmuseum Simeonstift, the Museum am Dom, the Museum Karl-Marx-Haus and the Treasury of the Scientific Library of the City of Trier will open on Saturday, September 7their doors. The houses offer a varied program around their current special exhibitions and permanent exhibitions. The evening is enriched with musical and culinary offerings.

Prices Trier Museum Night

The combination ticket for the 16th Trier Museum Night costs ten euros and includes entry to all five museums. Children up to twelve years of age are admitted free of charge. Tickets are available from the TV ticket hotline 0651/7199-996.

Trier Museum Night: Offers at the Museum am Dom

I am Museum at the Cathedral Guided tours and lectures are offered on the collection, which presents finds and works from Trier's churches. A highlight of the museum is the Constantinian ceiling painting – the painting was discovered and restored during excavations under Trier Cathedral (6.45 p.m. guided tour. Other offers: Museum restorer Stefan Schu leads a tour of the exhibition (9 p.m.), followed by a discussion of the scents of antiquity (9.45 p.m.) and altars, followed by a glass of wine (10.30 p.m.).

Children can look forward to a “snail race” in the museum (6-8 p.m.). In the museum's coach house, the soup bar “Zuppa” offers delicacies. The illuminated courtyard invites you to linger while the Piks Swing Company entertains visitors with classics from Dixie, Swing, Latin and evergreens.

Offers at the Trier City Museum

I am City Museum Simeonstift Trier (right next to the Porta Nigra) visitors can visit the new special exhibition “Discarded”, which not only presents old kitchen appliances, but also old computers and Monchhichi figures. Expert Dimitri Scher will show how a painting is restored (7-10 p.m.). A dramatic tour will take you back to the world 200 years ago. Anyone who wants to admire Trier “from above” can take a tour of the museum's famous city model with city conservator Marzena Kessler (8.30 p.m.). And museum director Viola Skiba will give an outlook on the upcoming Marc Aurel State Exhibition: “What is good governance?” The self-portrayal of the Trier city government in the early modern period” (9 p.m.).

The Trio Chiribim provides musical entertainment. In the cloister there is wine and sparkling wine from the United Hospitals, while Kollmanns Trier offers wraps and drinks.

Offers in the birthplace of Karl Marx

The Museum Karl Marx House (Brückenstrasse) invites you to take a tour, with guided tours in costume (each at 6.30 p.m., 7.30 p.m., 8.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.). Karl Marx in photos (of which there are not many) is the subject of a lecture by Jeannine Huster (9 and 10 p.m.). And take photos of yourself like they did back then, with an old plate camera? Visitors can try that out (7 p.m.-2 a.m.).

Children can design their own picture frame for the snapshot. The magic lamp provides culinary offerings.

Offers at the Rheinisches Landesmuseum (Ostallee)

I am Rhenish State Museum Trier will be cheerful and festive, according to the program. Anne Kurtze will explain what Trier looked like during the time of Emperor Marcus Aurelius on her tour (7 and 8 p.m.). There will also be a current collection from the Südallee on display. Another tour will focus on fashion and cosmetics (9 and 10.30 p.m.).
