CS-PUK will file criminal complaint after leaks

The CS-PUK will file a criminal complaint against unknown persons due to indiscretions. The trigger is an investigation by the “Sonntagszeitung”.

The Parliamentary Investigation Committee (PUK), which is investigating the emergency merger of the troubled CS with UBS, will file a criminal complaint against unknown persons for indiscretions. This is already the second complaint of this kind.

The reason for the second complaint is a report in the “SonntagsZeitung” newspaper, according to which former Finance Minister Ueli Maurer repeatedly met with National Bank President Thomas Jordan and CS President Axel Lehmann before the forced merger of CS with UBS. The “SonntagsZeitung” is basing its complaint on a report by the PUK. Read the research here.

In general, the PUK does not comment on alleged information from its ongoing investigation, according to a statement from the parliamentary services on Thursday. Its work is subject to the commission's secrecy and confidentiality obligations enshrined in law. Violations could be punished criminally.

Confidentiality applies to all

The PUK therefore decided to file a criminal complaint against an unknown person. This is not the first time: in February they decided to file a complaint following media reports on their investigation. The duty of confidentiality applies not only to PUK members, but to everyone who takes part in meetings and interviews, they wrote.

They are currently finalising their findings on the CS case and recommendations. They will publish their reports by the end of the year.
