“Has Fallen” series continues – with a big catch

The popular “Has Fallen” action series continues in a new format as a series. The first trailer for “Paris Has Fallen” is now available to watch.

Anyone who likes pure, straightforward action and doesn't feel like exaggerated gun-fu (“John Wick”), unrealistic stunts (“Fast & Furious”) or action grandpas (“The Expendables”) has hardly been able to ignore the “Has Fallen” action series with Gerard Butler in recent years. From 2013 to 2019, the British swashbuckler gave the villains a hard time as Secret Service agent Mike Banning and thrilled audiences all over the world. Fans have been waiting for the fourth part, entitled “Night Has Fallen”, for five years now.

It is questionable whether that will ever happen. Butler announced at the beginning of 2023 that he wanted to concentrate on other types of roles and play more ordinary, run-of-the-mill characters who have to rise above themselves in an emergency situation. Mike Banning, on the other hand, is a killing machine who works quickly, as if at the push of a button. So Butler is out for now, but the “Has Fallen” series is still going on – in the new series format, as the first trailer for “Paris has fallen” shows:

There is also a big catch, as you can easily see from the trailer: Gerard Butler is not part of the party. Apart from that, however, the TV spin-off offers everything that the action series usually has to offer, namely a nerve-racking plot, wild hand-to-hand combat, explosive chases and lots of shootings from all possible calibers. So buckling up is a must.

“Paris Has Fallen”: Can the action series also convince as a series?

Paris is under attack: A terrorist organization led by the nefarious Jacob Pearce (“Mission Impossible” villain Sean Harris) wants to eliminate the French defense minister. To thwart this plan and bring Pearce to justice, security expert Vincent Taleb (Tewfik Jallab) must work with MI6 agent Tara Taylor (Ritu Arya). But they soon discover that a mole has infiltrated their organizations, and Pearce is always one step ahead of them.

Showrunner Howard Overman has obviously spared no effort to capture the action experience from the big screen onto the screen with as little loss as possible. With the vibrant metropolis of Paris as the setting and a high production value, “Paris Has Fallen” should find its audience even without the big star of the movies. In France, the seven-episode first season of the action series will be broadcast from 23 September 2024 made available via Canal+. When and where it will be made available in this country has not yet been decided. However, Amazon would be a good candidate.

The complete “Has Fallen” film series with Gerard Butler in his biggest action role is currently available on Blu-ray via Amazon at a reasonable price.
