XY story: The new series starts on ZDF

This is what “XY Story” is about

In addition to “XY solved” and “XY missing”, there is now another offshoot of the “Aktenzeichen XY” universe: “XY History”.

It is about historical criminal cases. The scenes are complemented by historical, specially coloured archive material. Moderator Sven Voss shows how the Investigative work has changed over the years Hat. He speaks to investigators and experts on site.

On September 4, 2024, two cases of “XY History” will be shown.

Autumn 1: “The first homicide detective – Ernst Gennat”

Ernst Gennat revolutionized criminology in the 1920s. Germany's first homicide detective developed methods that are still used today.

Shortly before Christmas 1927, the 21-year-old butcher's daughter Dora Perske travels to her relatives in Friedrichshagen. An hour later she is found lying in her own blood, seriously injured. She is taken to the Charité hospital, but any help comes too late. Ernst Gennat and his secretary Trudchen Steiner begin the investigation. The perpetrator is convicted through Gennat's special style of interrogation.

Until the 1920s, there were no murder squads, no interrogation records or autopsy reports. Ernst Gennat achieved a high crime clearance rate through his innovative investigative methods.

Autumn 2: “Hard to believe – the Gladow Gang”

Werner Gladow leads a Berlin gang of gangsters in the post-war period. Their trademarks are tailored suits, a white tie and Budapest shoes, modeled on Al Capone.

Many people in destroyed Berlin are still suffering from poverty, which is why the black market is flourishing. The conflict between East and West is escalating. Cooperation between the authorities in the East and West sectors is becoming more complicated. But that is good for the Gladow Gang. Because anyone who commits a murder in the East and manages to escape to the West is swallowed up.

Sven Voss is actually better known from the sports scene. Host He was seen at the 2023 finals and in the “Aktuelles Sportstudio”, among others. Since 2022, Voss has been leading viewers through the true crime format “XY solved” – and now also through “XY History”.
