In the second episode of the event special “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” the RTL editorial team made a mistake. A candidate was given the wrong question – to which there was basically no answer.

Mathematics student Laura Harbig from Munich had already used up all four of her jokers when Günther Jauch presented her with the 32,000 euros on Tuesday evening: Who else were the Germans googling in the category “International Personalities” in 2023 more important than US pop star Taylor Swift? A: Margot Robbie, B: Queen Camilla, C: Elon Musk or D: Harry Kane.

The young woman revealed herself to be a big Taylor Swift fan, which is why she was a bit “biased”. She couldn't imagine that Margot Robbie was still being sought out as her idol because of the film “Barbie”. In the end, she decided on Elon Musk. She thought that the entrepreneur's takeover of the Twitter platform (now X) could have played a role in Germans' search behavior. She had also heard in a podcast that Musk was one of the most googled personalities. “The problem is: That was a Swedish podcast,” Harbig added.

The correct answer, however, would have been Harry Kane, who was the most searched for player after his move to Bayern Munich, according to the answer in the quiz show. But that's not true, as it later turned out.

The editors of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” apologize

“After intensive examination, we have determined that none of the four possible answers is correct,” said a press release from RTL on Wednesday. Taylor Swift is the most googled “international personality” in 2023. “Of course, candidate Laura Harbig will get a second chance and will compete again in the next “3 million euro week” of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” We apologize for the error,” it continues.

However, since the shows have already been recorded, the student will have to wait a while until the next event special takes place. It is still unclear when exactly that will be.
